Brown County Skywarn Weather Spotters were called in to action about 10:15 last night as approaching thunderstorms from the southwest brought several funnel clouds to the area northeast Brady.

According to Skywarn Coordinator Bill Fraser, the storm systems were building and moving northwest toward the Bangs, Santa Anna, and Coleman areas. The National Weather Service confirmed through the McCulloch County Skywarn staff that a tornado did touch down northwest of Brady in the Brady Lake area. No damages were confirmed as of Monday morning.

The major threat finally moved through between Coleman and Santa Anna and headed toward the Comanche County – Eastland County lines in the DeLeon area.

Portions of Brown County did receive some much needed rain, with reports along the south shore of Lake Brownwood in excess of one inch.  Many areas of town indicate between a half inch to and inch of rain fell.

Fortunately, the only real threat came from some outflow boundary winds that picked up to about 45 mph. No damages were reported as of Monday morning.
