MattMaxfieldAfter six and a half years as chief executive officer of Brownwood Regional Medical Center (BRMC), Matt Maxfield has resigned his leadership position effective April 14 to pursue a new CEO opportunity outside the company with Seton Medical Center Harker Heights.

During his tenure, Maxfield’s leadership led to the development and implementation of many new programs both within the hospital and in the community. Maxfield led the effort to open Brown County’s first nursing program and partnered with Brownwood Independent School District to start the area’s first health career and technology program at Brownwood High School.  Within the hospital, Maxfield is credited with the recruitment of several new physicians including the recent affiliation with Heart of Texas Internal Medicine, a 5 regional physician practice. In addition, Maxfield brought new services to the market such as advanced imaging services and additional outpatient surgery capabilities.

“Matt’s leadership has been tremendous and we thank him for his contributions,” said Robert Porter, BRMC chairman of the board of trustees.  “He has been instrumental in the growth and success of the hospital and provided strong and visionary leadership.  He will be sincerely missed and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Beginning April 11, George Parsley will assume the role of interim CEO. Parsley is an accomplished and seasoned leader with strong CEO experience. Parsley is currently the chief operating officer at DeTar Health System in Victoria, Texas and previously served as chief executive officer at Scenic Mountain Medical Center in Big Spring, Texas. Maxfield will work closely with Parsley and the hospital through the transition process. The search for a new CEO is currently underway.
