commissionercourtarticlepicBrown County Commissioners approved the purchase of a new dump truck for Precinct 1 at their Monday meeting.   Commissioner Steve Adams received the go ahead to purchase a 1998 International dump truck for $18,500.  The truck will be purchased out of the precinct’s equipment fund.

In other matters on the commissioner’s court agenda:

*Becky Caffey, administrator of the Brown County Jail, received approval for the Sheriff’s Office to replace jailer Ty Cables with new hire Mitchell Jacobson.  Jacobson will begin at the jailer starting salary, which is a slight savings to BCSO from the salary previously paid to Cables in this position.

*Commissioners approved BCSO’s request for the annual renewal of the Mentalix Maintenance agreement.

This is the system that electronically transfers fingerprints to Texas Department of Public Safety and The Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The agreement has no changes from the previous year and also includes any upgrades.  This will be paid out of the BCSO supplies budget.

*Commissioners approved the sale of two parcels of land to the following:

Arthur Pessina:  1520 Brady Avenue, Lot 6, block 13, Ford’s Addition.  The bid amount was $990 which was also the listed tax appraisal amount.  Taxes and fees owed totaled $7321 due to taxes not being paid since 1998 and the penalties and legal fees accrued since that time.

Johnathan S. Skrhak: 1309 8th Street, Lot G, Looney Block, Original Townsite.  The bid amount was $1400 which was also the tax appraisal value.  The taxes and fees owed totaled $4900.
