CurrieStricklandHoward Payne University’s fourth annual Currie-Strickland Distinguished Lectures in Christian Ethics will be held on Tuesday, March 15, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Richard and Wanda Jackson Conference Room, located in the Paul and Jane Meyer Faith and Life Leadership Center on the HPU campus.

This year’s lectures will feature Dr. Doug Ezell, Dr. George Mason and Dr. Ira H. Peak, Jr.

Dr. Ezell, retired minister and counselor from Iowa, Louisiana, will address the topic of “Five Ethical Themes in the New Testament,”

Dr. Mason, senior pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas, will speak on “Preaching on Ethics in the Local Church.”

Dr. Peak, retired pastor and adjunct professor of religion and philosophy, University of Indianapolis, will speak on “Five Ethical Themes in the Old Testament.”

Admission is free but reservations are required. For reservations, please contact Howard Payne University’s Office of University Marketing and Communications by e-mail at currie-strickland@hputx.edu or by phone at 325-649-8009.

The lecture series is made possible through the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Gary Elliston and was established to honor the life of Dr. David R. Currie, retired executive director of Texas Baptists Committed, and the memory of Phil Strickland, who dedicated nearly 40 years of ministry to the Baptist General Convention of Texas’ Christian Life Commission.
