raymondcoppic001Funeral Services for Raymond Daniel Coppic, age 79, of Brownwood will be held at 2:00 pm Monday March 14, 2011 at the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with Tim Skaggs and Edmond Wheeles officiating, interment to follow at Jordan Springs Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Raymond died Friday March 11, 2011 at Songbird Lodge in Brownwood from congestive heart failure and complications.

He was born September 15, 1931 in Brownwood to Jesse and Beulah Wilson Coppic, both deceased. He lived in Brownwood all of his life with the exception of 21 years while serving in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1972. He spent most of the service years in Texas and Mississippi with tours in Korea, Azores and Alaska. He was a graduate of Brownwood High School and attended Tarleton State University.

He was married to Doris Davis in 1951. Then he married Dolores Blue, mother of Nancy and Michael, who is deceased (1975). He was then married to Patricia Quave, mother of Debbie and Julie, also deceased (1985). Also he was married to Elwanda Williams, deceased 2001, mother of Steve and Kyle.

Survivors include his two children Nancy Coppic Brandstetter and her husband Travis and their three children Patricia, Jessica of Brownwood and Nicholas, of Houston; Michael Coppic and his wife Lori and their three sons Jesse, Zachary and Colby all of Brownwood. Two sister, Daphine Coppic Baten from Dothan, Alabama; Linda Coppic Wheeles and her husband Edmond of Brownwood; his brother’s widow, Dueda Coppic of San Angelo. He has numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren. In addition Raymond had two stepdaughters, three step sons, and many step grandchildren, whom he loved as his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Leroy, and a brother-in-law G.O. Baten and one stepson.
