BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 2/28

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of February 27th through March 5th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 16 medical emergencies, 3 motor vehicle accidents, 5 fire calls, 2 hazardous materials calls, 1 false alarm and 1 rescue call.

Calls of interest include:

Sunday, February 27

*8:20am – BFD was called to a brush fire in the 1200 block of Hall.  The fire was out upon arrival of firefighters.

*10:59pm – BFD responded to a one vehicle accident with no injuries on CR 225.

Monday, February 28

*8:15am – BFD was dispatched when a carbon monoxide detector sounded at 1100 Ave D, the Head start building.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find the preschool had been evacuated.  Fire crews checked building with a detector and the building was clear.

*10:13am – BFD was called for a rescue at 101 Carnegie St.  Firefighters responded to a call of a person being stuck in the elevator.  Firefighters were able to get the elevator down and all units cleared the scene.

*1:59pm – BFD responded to a grass fire in the 3100 block of US Hwy 67.  Firefighters extinguished the fire, which was less than an acre.

*6:53pm – BFD was dispatched to a grass fire in the 3300 block of Stephen F. Austin.  Firefighters arrived to find a small grass fire near a creek.  The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire.

Tuesday, March 1

*11:07am – BFD was called to a fire in the 1300 block of Morris Sheppard.  Firefighters arrived to find a dumpster smoldering.  The fire was extinguished and fire crews returned to service.

Wednesday, March 2

*10:34am – BFD responded to a one vehicle accident with minor injuries in the 2300 block of Asbury Ct.

Thursday, March 3

*12:31pm – BFD was called to a grass fire in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive. The fire was 10 acres in size.

Friday, March 4

*6:34am – BFD responded to a hazardous material call in the 1300 block of Oakland Dr.  After using a detector, the incident was determined to be a natural gas leak.

*12:56pm – BFD was dispatched to a two vehicles accident with no injuries at 400 E Commerce St.
