LolaCleerePhotoLola Jewel Anderson Cleere, 78, of Brownwood, passed away Thursday March 3, 2011 in San Angelo, Texas. Lola was born October 18, 1932 in Lubbock, Texas to J.C. (Jewel) and Lola Stewart Anderson. She spent her youth in Lubbock, graduating from Lubbock High School in 1951. She was very popular with all of her classmates and was involved in many activities.

Upon graduation from High School, she attended and graduated from Abilene Christian University where she was a school beauty, an all school favorite and nominated for homecoming queen. She married B.E. Cleere in 1954 and moved to Ozona, Texas where she taught 1st grade in the Ozona public schools. Her marriage was blessed with two children Kirk and Penny Cleere. The family relocated to San Angelo where she raised her children and was a member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Kathleen Appleton and Fern Igo and one brother Carroll Anderson. Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son Kirk Cleere and wife Patricia, three grandchildren, Dixon, Jabyn, and Jewel Cleere all of San Angelo and daughter Penny Cleere of Ojai, California. She is also survived by her brother, Gordon Anderson and wife Bula, a sister-in-law, Rose Lee Anderson all of Lubbock and nine nieces and nephews.

At Lola’s request, graveside services will be conducted at Green Leaf Cemetery at 2:00 PM Monday, March 7, 2011 under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.

Very special thanks is given to all of the staff at the Cross Country Healthcare Center in Brownwood for the many years of special and loving care they provided Lola and her family.

Friends and relatives may sign the online guest book at nethertonfuneralhome.com.
