Lady Jacket’s Season Ended By Coe

jacketbasketball_logoCEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Howard Payne University Lady Jacket basketball team season ended with a 79-56 loss to Coe College in the second round of the 2011 NCAA women’s basketball championship tournament.

The Lady Jackets started off hot in the game with Brittany Roberson scoring the first 11 points for Howard Payne. HPU was able to build a 12-point lead, 30-18, with 8:12 left in the first half on a Clarissa Krum jumper.

The Coe Kohawks put together a run of their own, outscoring Howard Payne 19-5 to close out the half. The Kohawks led 37-35 at the break.

The game was tied at 44-44 with 14:21 to play in the game when Coe went on a run that the Lady Jackets would not be able to recover from. Coe outscored Howard Payne 35-12 in the final 14 minutes of the game to claim a 79-56 win.

Brittany Roberson led HPU with 17 points and four assists. Clarissa Krum had 14 and Jasmin Thomas added 10. Sarah Pfiester finished with a team high seven rebounds.

Coe was led by Kayla Lincoln with a game high 21 points. Kayla Waskow had 15 with Sarah Anciaux and Mary Halvorson adding 10 each.

Coe, now at 26-3 overall, advances to the round of 16 in the NCAA III tournament and Howard Payne finishes its season at 22-8 overall.
