Grover Wayne Vogel

GroverWayneVogelGrover Wayne Vogel, age 43, of Bangs, Texas, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, after battling a long illness.

He was born Sept. 7, 1967, to Billy Kyle Vogel Sr. and Kathy Moody Vogel in Monahans, Texas.  He has lived the past 15 plus years in Bangs, Texas with his parents and his sister Sharon Petty and family.  He was a Christian with a strong love for God.  Wayne spent his life working in the oil field where he operated a pulling unit.  Wayne had a special gift of always lending a helping hand and he had the ability to touch all people he encountered.  He relished his role as a caregiver in kindness and had pride in his family.

Survivors include his mother, Kathy Vogel of Bangs, Texas; two brothers, Billy Vogel, Jr. and his wife Carey of Bangs, Texas, Bobby Vogel and wife Melissa of Rankin, Texas; three sisters, Sharon Petty and husband Burton of Bangs, Texas, Karen Taylor and her husband Randy of Lake Brownwood, Texas, Tammy Vogel and her husband Larry of Santa Anna, Texas.  He was raised with his nephew, Jerry Powell and nieces, Missie Gebhardt and Angela Sides; two cousins, George Vogel and Margie Vogel, both were very dear to him.

He is survived by his little buddy Gareth Petty.  He is also survived by uncles, aunts, cousins and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his daddy, Billy Vogel, Sr.; uncle, Jerry Vogel, Sr.; nephew, Brian Petty; and other family members.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the Bangs Cemetery.  Friends and relatives are requested to be at Heartland Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. to take the final ride with Wayne.  Services will be officiated by Brian Hall.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Heartland Funeral Home.
