BHS Choir Students Have Successful Day at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest

bisd26 BHS choir members competed at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, February 19 at Howard Payne University.  17 students received Superior ratings on Class 1 solos and ensembles, qualifying them to advance to the State Solo & Ensemble Contest in May.

The following Madrigal advanced to State:  Jessica Bailey, Brian Bowen, Katie Burks, Megan Irwin, Leanna Johnson, Madison McKillip, William Murray, Michelle Pickard, Nathan Ross, and Garrett Woods.

The following soloists also advanced to State:  Michaela Blanton, Brian Bowen, Katie Burks, Liz Chancellor, Trey Fawcett, Matthew Lewis, Michelle Pickard, Meredith Underwood, Zak Webb, and Garrett Woods.  Emily Dick advanced with her piano solo.

The following choir members received medals for their Superior ratings on Class 2 and Class 3 solos:  Miranda Brock, Laura Cadena, Kourtney Gainey, Love Leigh Gonzales, Morgan Hall, Shelby McKillip, Sierra Mendez, and Kelsey Reid.

Receiving an Excellent rating on their solos were Leanna Johnson, Kolton Robertson, and Nathan Ross.  A quartet with Trey Fawcett, Matthew Lewis, Kolton Robertson, and Elijah Salazar also received an Excellent rating.

The Brownwood High School Choirs are under the direction of Dean Kiesling and Patricia Garrett.
