Brownwood Police arrested two teens in connection to the burglary of Hastings when a complainant from another business saw someone suspicious on their property early Monday morning.

Shortly after 2:30am Saturday morning, motion detectors at Hastings Book Store set off alarms detecting movement near the front doors of the store police reports state.  Officers responding to the call found the front doors open and unlocked.  An investigation determined that two males had entered through the roof of the building and crawled through the store toward the front doors, hoping not to set off the alarm.

Once at the front door, the suspects set off the motion detector causing the alarm to sound.  One suspect fled out the front door immediately while the other ran toward the back of the building according to police reports.   A short time later, the second suspect ran out of the front door.  It appeared that nothing had been taken; instead, something was left.  One of the would-be thieves left a PSP game system behind in the chaotic exit.  Video surveillance did pick up images of two males in the building.  The suspects had fled the scene before officers were able to arrive.

Monday morning, Brownwood Police were called to a local nearby car sales lot when someone was noticed trespassing on their property.  One male was detained after the business owner found him in an empty storage building and the other was found nearby.

Police said that confessions were made by both males, identified as 19-year-old William Gilmore and 17-year-old Gavin Jackson, in connection to the Hastings burglary.  Gilmore and Jackson were arrested on Burglary charges.
