Sara HaleyHoward Payne University has named Sara Haley as the new director of facilities and planning.

The appointment was made by Brenda McLendon, senior vice president for finance and administration.

“We are excited to welcome Sara Haley to HPU,” said McLendon. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both architecture and commercial building construction which will greatly benefit the university in our daily plant operations, as well as enhance our long-range facilities master planning. Sara has already hit the ground running and we are confident she is going to do a great job in this new role.

In her new position, Haley will be responsible for leading, managing and maintaining all campus facilities, grounds, infrastructure, utilities, related systems and equipment. She will also provide leadership and vision in planning and directing construction and renovation projects for the university.

For the past two years, Haley has served as a project manager for Waldrop Construction, of Brownwood. During her time with the construction firm, she oversaw several large construction projects and handled contracts, insurance and client correspondence while over-seeing multiple million-dollar budgets.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Texas Tech University. Following graduation, she pursued her architectural career at F&S Partners, Inc., of Dallas. While with F&S, she served on a collaborative team that designed facilities and recreation centers for large universities.

She is married to Joe Haley. They are members of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
