BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 2/7

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of January 30th through February 5th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 22 medical emergencies, 6 motor vehicle accidents, 8 fire calls, 3 false alarms, 1 public service call and 3 hazardous material calls.

Calls of interest include:

Sunday, January 30

*10:40am-BFD responded to the 1500 block of Phillips Drive.  Firefighters arrived on scene to investigate the activation of a carbon monoxide detector.  A gas detector was used and house was found to be clear.

*5:05pm-BFD was dispatched to a grass fire in the 4400 block of Mimosa Drive. Fire crews arrived to find a grassfire in the alley way.  Firefighters extinguished the fire.

Monday, January 31

*9:14pm- BFD was called to investigate a hazardous condition. The residence’s carbon monoxide detector had activated.  Firefighters investigated and then advised occupants to replace the batteries.

Tuesday, February 1

*9:42am-BFD was dispatched to the 500 block of FM 45 regarding a motor vehicle accident.  A truck had slid off the road due to ice.  One occupant was transported by Guardian EMS.

*5:23pm-BFD responded to a one vehicle roll over with no injuries at N US 183 at FM 1467.

*9:41pm-BFD was called to a vehicle fire in the 700 block of W Commerce Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to a vehicle fully engulfed.  Live ammunition was inside the vehicle. Fire was extinguished.

Wednesday, February 2

*6:35am- BFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident with injuries on N Hwy 279.

*9:48am-BFD responded to a fire call in the 500 block of Fisk Avenue.  Fire crews arrived to find smoke in the building.  Firefighters investigated and found heater unit motor smoking.

*11:49am- BFD was called to a single vehicle accident with no injuries on S Hwy 377.

*12:06pm- BFD was called to a fire in the 6000 block of N Hwy 183. Firefighters arrived on scene with Early Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters extinguished fire.  Fire Marshall was contacted to investigate.

*12:20pm-BFD responded to a fire call in the 100 block of Ivanhoe Lane.  A smoke detector had activated and no fire was found.  Firefighters changed the batteries in detector for the occupants then cleared the scene.

*3:21pm- BFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident with injuries at Carnegie & Adams St. The patient was taken by Guardian EMS and transported to BRMC.

*4: 12pm- Public Service Call. Arrived on scene at BRMC to assist Air Evac with landing zone.  Due to icing, the original landing zone was a hazard.

*10:16pm- Fire Call 8225 CR 328 Blanket. Arrived on scene with Blanket VFD to find a large shop fire. Fire was brought under control.  Fire Marshal was notified to investigate.

Thursday, January, 3

*1:13pm-BFD was called to the 2100 block of 9th St.  The incident was determined to be steam or vapor thought to be smoke.  After investigation, all units cleared the scene.

*1:18pm-BFD was responded to a single vehicle rollover with injury on Hwy 67.  The patient was loaded with Guardian EMS.

*2:18pm-BFD was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover on N US 377.

*3:25pm- BFD responded to a false alarm at 2700 Vincent, East Elementary.  The fire alarm was activated by mistake.

Friday, February 4

*9:28pm-BFD responded to a possible gas leak in the 1500 block of Market Place. After investigation, it was discovered that the pilot light on the water heater was out.  Firefighters re-lit pilot light and cleared the scene.

*9:38pm-BFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 1300 block of 3rd St. There were no injuries.

Saturday, February 5

*2:08am-BFD responded to a hazardous material call in the 2200 block of 13th.  Firefighters investigated the smell of gas.  No hazard was found.

*8:07pm-BFD responded to a fire call at 605 Depot.  Firefighters arrived to find nothing showing. The alarm panel was reset.
