The American Southwest Conference today announced its men’s basketball players of the week and Howard Payne’s Brandon Irwin was honored for the second time this season.

As Co-West Division Player of the Week, Howard Payne junior guard Brandon Irwin (Thorndale, TX / THS) averaged 30.5 points and 3.5 rebounds over two conference games, including a 68-65 victory over West Division leader Mary Hardin-Baylor that snapped a seven-game losing streak.  Irwin, who takes the division’s top weekly award for the second time this season, has poured in more than 30 points in three straight games.  On the week, he added three assists, two steals and shot 59.4 percent from the floor.
