GirlScoutCookieStockPicA great program has been developed that will benefit the local Girl Scouts, the 21st Cavalry Brigade, and soldiers from Fort Hood and III Corps serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The 21st Cavalry Brigade is a longstanding community partner and has adopted Brownwood High School.

Many people, who would not ordinarily purchase Girl Scout cookies, would buy some if they knew that they would be greatly appreciated by the brave men and women from Fort Hood that are currently serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.  Many of these service men and women have trained with the 21st Cavalry Brigade in the Brownwood area.

Those wanting to buy Girl Scout cookies and donate them to the soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan can do it one of three ways:

  1. Tell the local Girl Scouts selling cookies that you want them donated to the 21st Cavalry Brigade.
  2. Send a check to the local Girl Scout office or to one of the local Girl Scout troop leaders made out to the Girl Scouts with a notation for the 21st Cavalry Brigade.
  3. Send a check to Dr. Steve Kelly’s office made out to the Girl Scouts with a notation for the 21st Cavalry Brigade (Dr. Steve Kelly, 100 South Park Drive, Brownwood, TX 76801).

Girl Scout Cookies cost $3.50/box and come in a variety of flavors.  Credit for cash donations will be distributed equally among all local Girl Scout troops.  Colonel Morgan Lamb, Commanding Officer of the 21st Cavalry Brigade, will make sure that the Girl Scout cookies are delivered to Fort Hood troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
