RobertPittsEarly Chief of Police David Mercer reported that an investigation of drug activity in the Early and Brownwood areas led Early Police officer Johnny Brown to obtain a search warrant for a residence in the 2300 block of 10th Street in Brownwood that was connected with the delivery and use of crack cocaine.

The warrant was obtained after Officer Brown and Sgt. Dibrell, also of Early PD, contacted the narcotics officers from Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Brownwood Police Department.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office tactical entry team made entry and secured the residence for search teams to begin their investigation of the property.  Mercer said that officers located crack cocaine and steroids in the home along with drug paraphernalia.

62-year-old Robert Fred “Bobby” Pitts was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a 3rd degree felony and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class A misdemeanor.

On Tuesday, January 25th, after further investigation, Early officers obtained a seizure warrant for a 2001 Corvette that was allegedly used in transporting of crack cocaine and connected to the case.
