HSMThe Brownwood High School Fine Arts Department is bringing the extremely popular “High School Musical” to the stage of Brownwood High, January 20, 22 and 23.

The show was originally produced as a Disney Channel Movie, and is intended to “bring back the days of high school,” including the eccentric teacher, the captain of the basketball team, the drama queen, and the shy, new girl.  They must somehow learn to work together, instead of letting their differences separate them.

The cast and crew of 50 students have been rehearsing for ten weeks, and are excited for the show to open.  “I announced last spring that we would be doing High School Musical, and the response from the students was awesome!” said Choir Director, Dean Kiesling.

Lead roles are Troy Bolton played by Cameron Seale, Gabriella Montez played by Leanna Johnson, Sharpay Evans played by Michelle Pickard, Ryan Evans played by Trey Fawcett, Chad Danforth played by Garrett Wells, and Taylor McKessie played by Megan Irwin.  Keeley Gowin, co-captain of the Lionettes, is the main choreographer, along with fellow students Meredith Underwood, Jessica Bailey and Leanna Johnson.  Instructors and directors are Dean Kiesling, Donnetta Shelton, and Patricia Garrett.

The show opens at the Dorothy McIntosh Fine Arts Center Auditorium on Thursday, January 20th at 7:30 pm, and runs Saturday, January 22nd at 7:30 pm and Sunday, January 23rd at 2:30 pm.  Tickets are $5 each, and may be purchased at the door.
