Both teams shared the lead throughout the game with Hardin-Simmons leading at the half 36-33. HSU out-rebounded Howard Payne 23-10 in the opening half.

With 10 minutes to play in the game the Lady Jackets went on a run and opened up the game with a 13 point lead. With 3:37 left, a three-pointer by Tresta Donahoo gave HPU a 71-58 lead.
Hardin-Simmons was unable to get back in the game and the Lady Jackets secured the 84-66 win. HPU closed the rebounding gap in the second, 41-34 HSU.

Brittany Roberson and Kayla Scott lead HPU with 16 points each. Scott’s 10 second half points spurred the HPU run. Clarissa Krum followed closely behind with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Tresta Donahoo added 11 points and 4 assists off the bench.

Lindsey Newcombe led all scorers and HSU with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Coco Cartwright had 18 with four assists, and Alexis Popelar added 11 with nine rebounds.
