CityofBrownwoodlogo_smallThe City of Brownwood and Brownwood ISD announced that a neighborhood clean-up called “Operation Clean Sweep” scheduled for January 21 and 22 will be held from 9am-3pm at 1000 Avenue B.  This is located in the parking lot across from the Coggin Elementary School between Durham and Austin Avenues.

Operation Clean Sweep will be the first step in the Pride for Areas Surrounding Schools Program (P.A.S.S.).  The neighborhood around the Coggin Elementary and Intermediate School campuses is invited and encouraged to take advantage of the assistance to rid their properties of unwanted clutter for FREE.

There will be no charge to get rid of household trash, scrap metal or tires.  Curb-side pickup of appliances and heavy items will also be available.  Just call 646—5331 and ask for a “Pass Assist”.  Freon-filled appliances MUST be upright and not leaking.

Staff will be on hand to direct and answer questions but not to unload trash from vehicles into dumpsters.  Small loose items must be bagged or in containers that can be manually loaded over the 6 foot tall side of the dumpster.

Prohibited items include:

  • Asbestos
  • Oil or oil filters
  • Pesticides
  • Light Ballasts
  • Chemicals of any kind
  • Gasoline
  • Sealants
  • Paint, paint thinners and etc.
  • Grease
  • Acid
  • Ink
  • Tar
  • Liquids
  • Asphalt pavement
  • Electronics of any kind
