BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 1/10

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of January 2nd through January 8th from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 17 medical emergencies, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 5 fire calls, 1 false alarm, 2 hazardous material calls and 1 gas leak/carbon monoxide call.

Calls of interest include:

Sunday, January 2

*12:24pm- BFD responded to a two vehicle accident with no injuries at Bailey Street and Beaver Street.

*1:44pm- BFD was dispatched to a gas spill in the 3800 block of CR 234.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find BCSO with 3 people that were dumping diesel on the ground.  Fire Fighters used absorbent to clean up the spilled fuel.

Tuesday, January 4

*6:07am- BFD was dispatched to an incident which turned out to be a faulty alarm system.

*9:17pm- BFD was called to a gas leak.  Firefighters arrived on scene with Atmos.

Wednesday, January 5

*4:00am- Firefighters were dispatched to the 1100 Duke Street.  A space heater caught fire.  Firefighters found the fire to be out upon their arrival but heavy smoke was present. Guardian EMS was called to check breathing of toddler.

Friday, January 7

*3:15pm- BFD was called to the intersection of north US Hwy 183 and CR 338.  A motor vehicle accident involving 2 vehicles had occurred. 1 patient was transported by Air Evac to Hendricks Medical Center.

*3:39pm- BFD responded to a power line that was down.  The hazard was removed by firefighters.

January 8

*8:49am- BFD was dispatched to a building fire in the 1800 block of Houston Street.  BFD arrived on scene to find a vacant trailer house fully involved.   Defensive operation was started and fire was brought under control.  The Fire Marshal was contacted to investigate cause of fire.

*3:16pm- BFD responded to a call of smoke in the area.  After investigation, the smoke was found to be from someone cooking in a smoker.

*5:45pm- BFD was called to an outside fire in the 1700 block of Sycamore Street.   The fire was extinguished because it was not in an approved cooking container.

*11:42pm- BFD was dispatched to an outside fire on Avalon Court.  Occupants of the residence were advised to get an approved container to cook in.
