Shortly after noon on Monday, Dec. 20th, Brownwood Fire Department responded to a call of “a small grass fire that was spreading rapidly” near the Brownwood High School Baseball fields on Good Shepherd.

The fire was located just at the road’s edge near the fields; however, quick response from BFD kept the flames small and away from the fields and new scoreboards.  Pictured above are BFD firefighters extinguishing the fire.

Around 5:30pm, another call came in that reported the fire had reignited near the baseball fields of BHS.  Firefighters arrived on scene and saw a few utility lines arcing and dropping flames onto the parched grass below.  Utility crews were called and BFD remained on scene to control the flames from the lines until crews could resolve the problem.  Pictured below are sparks on the utility lines and BFD firefighters working to put out the reignited flames.
