ChristmasLogo_mainSMALLThe 2nd annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival is going to be bigger than ever this year as it offers not only an array of children’s activities, but some great fun for youth as well.

During the festival at Howard Payne University campus on December 3rd and 4th, the Outdoor Recreation Center*, located off of Fisk, will be open offering fun on the rock climbing wall and skate park.  For gaming fans, a Halo tournament will also be taking place in the area.

Probably one of the most ambitious activities for youth will be a fear factor style scavenger hunt which promises to be for those with strong stomachs.

“Teenagers are going to love this activity and the prizes will make it all worthwhile,” said Donnette Carmack of the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce

Prizes for the scavenger hunt include a new Apple iPad, as well as $100 and $50 Wal-Mart gift cards.

“We really wanted to give the youth of the area something fun to participate in during the festival,” Carmack said.

The scavenger hunt will begin Saturday, December 4th at 4pm and will last about an hour.  Teens interested in registering for the event can call the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-646-9535 or visit the scavenger hunt registration table under the bell towers at Howard Payne during the Christmas Festival.

For more information about the Christmas Under the Stars Festival, visit BrownwoodChamber.org.

*All participants at the Outdoor Recreation Center need to provide their own in-line skates and/or skateboard and helmet. All participants will be required to sign a waiver, if under the age of 18 their parent will need to sign.  Any participant under the age of 18 will need a parent present at all time. Entry into the Outdoor Recreational Center is free.
