christmasparadelogoThe annual “Spirit of Christmas” lighted parade will now take place on Saturday, December 4th starting at 6pm as part of the Christmas Under the Stars Festival.   Horses, Buses, Semi-trailers, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Marching Bands, Rock Bands, Walking Milk Shakes, Clowns, Vintage Automobiles, Fire Trucks, Police Cars, Ambulances, Cheerleaders and Nationally Ranked Division 1 University Booster Club support trailers all help to make up the annual lighted parade that winds itself through the Historic Downtown District of Brownwood.

Parade entries as well as volunteers are now being sought for the 2010 Spirit of Christmas lighted parade.  Interested groups, businesses and individuals can go to www.southsidebrownwood.org and click on the link provided to register.  Entry fee is $10 per entry which will benefit Good Samaritan Ministries.

The parade, being organized by Southside Church, was originally scheduled for Friday night, but due to the Brownwood Lions state quarterfinal playoff game against Monahans now scheduled for Friday night, the parade will take place Saturday.  The undefeated Lions will face the also undefeated Monahans Loboes Friday, December 3rd at 7pm in San Angelo Stadium.

The Christmas Under the Stars Festival will still take place both Friday and Saturday night from 4pm-8pm at Howard Payne University Campus and the Lehnis Railroad Museum.  Children and youth activities will offer great fun for all ages during the festival.  Everything from ornament decorating, rock wall climbing, food, and photos with Santa are just a few of the activities that will be available.  For more information about the festival, visit www.BrownwoodChamber.org
