The American Southwest Conference today announced its men’s basketball players of the week and Howard Payne’s Brandon Irwin was honored as the West Division Player of the Week.

Howard Payne junior guard Brandon Irwin (Thorndale, TX / THS) averaged 29 points over three road games to open the season.

Irwin, who also added five rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game, opened with a 39-point performance in an 81-79 victory over Rhodes College.  He was the leading scorer in all three contests on the week.
