Clara Cleone Keith Champion Jarrett

CleoneJarrettCleone Jarrett, age 94, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at CARE Inc. in Brownwood, TX.  Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00pm Saturday November 6, 2010 in Greenleaf Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday November 5, 2010 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Cleone Jarrett was born February 23, 1916 in Brownwood, the 8th child of 12, to Clara Lily Brown and John Wesley Keith. She was the last surviving sibling in that family. Cleone attended Brownwood Schools and Howard Payne University before marrying Don Champion in 1935.They had three daughters Martha Cleone Wellman Zipf, Susan Diane Bofferding Champion, and Madeline Anne Love. After the death of Don in 1957 she continued her work as an assistant to the president of Major Metals Manufacturing Company in San Francisco until her decision to marry her second husband, William Watson Jarrett in 1963.

They made their home in Brownwood until his death in 2005. She was a stepmother to Sharon Jarrett Hudspeth and William Watson Jarrett, Jr.  Cleone was a member of the First Baptist Church, a volunteer for various charities, and was a longtime member and past president of the Brownwood Garden Club. She was primarily devoted to her family throughout her life and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her love.

Survivors include her children and stepchildren and their families; grandchildren, Michael Don Wellman, Patrick Alan Wellman, Timothy E. Bofferding, Theodore E. Bofferding, Gretchen Bofferding Watson, Damon Love, Mark Love, Jeremy Love, Brett Hudspeth, Leah Hudspeth Pullin, and Mary Elizabeth Jarrett Zimmerman.

Her Great grandchildren are Stephanie and Sara Wellman, Alyce and Ty Bofferding, Christopher Bofferding, Amy and Tenaya Watson, Hudson and Grace Pullin, Thomas and Joshua Hudspeth and Austin and Tyler Primmer. Shane McFarland is her first great-great grandson; Nieces and nephews Don Graves, J.W. Willoughby, Dorothy Shaw, Howard Alexander, Janette Morris and Woodrow Keith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Minnie Willoughby, Ruby Graves and Louise Alexander; brothers, Leonard, Louvelle, Wesley, Amos, and Ben Keith, her grandson Richard Jarrett, and great grandson Shane Watson.

The family wishes to acknowledge the care and comfort given by the staffs at both Solaris Hospice and CARE Nursing Center and extend out thanks for their many kindnesses.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Brownwood Garden Club Scholarship Fund, c/o Sandy Clark, President, 325-642-1888.
