Early Voting Ends as Election Day Approaches – Polling Places and Local Candidate List

VOTETwo weeks of early voting ended on Friday with 4070 ballots being cast in the upcoming mid-term election.  647 of those votes came in on Friday alone as voters raced to the polls to catch the last day of early voting according to election officials.  Some state and county races heated up as candidates did last minute campaigning before the November 2nd election day arrives.

The state-wide race expected to draw voters to the polls on Tuesday is the contest for Texas Governor. Longtime Republican incumbent Rick Perry faces what could be a tough challenge from former Houston mayor Bill White, a Democrat. Kathie Glass, a Libertarian, and Deb Shafto, a Green Party candidate, are also in the race.

Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Midland), the incumbent for the 11th Congressional District is challenged by James Quillian (D-Monahans), James A. Powell (L-Houston) and Jim Howe (G-Odessa).

(Write-in candidate Ronnie Moore is campaigning, but not on the ballot)

Mike “Pappy” Bullard (Dem)

County Commissioner, Precinct 2
