SynderISDVisitsBMSBrownwood ISD was recently awarded a Texas Education Agency “Connections Grant,” which designates BISD as an official demonstration site for technology use, along with $850,000 in technology-related funds.  Five administrators and teachers from Snyder Junior High visited Brownwood Middle School on Friday, Oct. 21st, to get advice and see first-hand how BMS is using computers in the classroom every day.

Snyder Junior High will be issuing Mac laptops to their teachers this fall and to their students in January or February.  BMS teachers were issued their Mac laptops last spring, and 8th graders received theirs in August.

For over an hour, the visitors asked questions about software, classroom management, parental involvement, networks and more.  Brownwood ISD staff shared what worked well and the lessons learned along the way.

After taking pages of notes, the Snyder group toured three classes and saw multiple samples of assignments that students created on their laptops.

“It was great to see how you all are doing things,” said Snyder Junior High Principal, Robert Webb.  “We really appreciate Mr. Allen and everyone’s time; it will help us do a solid roll-out here.”

Hosting the group at BMS was Principal, Bryan Allen, Technology Director, Edward Yantis, Instructional Technologist, Elizabeth Gilmore, BMS Technologist, Jeremy Gillard, and Connections Grant Administrator and BISD Librarian, Pam McGee.
