The new microfiltration plant is still on hold awaiting the repaired magna drives to arrive, General Manager Dennis Spinks told the Brown County Water Improvement District board at its regular meeting Tuesday evening.

As of Wednesday, Spinks had received a call from the manufacturer stating that the magna drives were repaired and had been shipped on Tuesday to be received on either Monday or Tuesday of next week.  The installation will be delayed for at least a week due to scheduling a manufacturer’s representative to be present during the installation to ensure the magna drives are perfectly aligned.

“I’m excited to get the new plant up and running again,” stated Spinks.  “We need to get started on the West plant.”

In other business, the board discussed at length possible amendments to the district’s rules and regulations regarding Lake Brownwood. The board was considering additions related to submersible pumps but took no action after talking to Warren Tongate, a master electrician, who said he believed if pumps were installed correctly and met the national electric code, the pumps should not produce any safety hazards.

Tongate said he believed if everything meets NEC standards, he didn’t see the need for further precautions.

The board also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Brown County Water Improvement District Lake Patrol Office and Brownwood/Brown County Emergency Management and Public Health Preparedness.

They also approved appointing Spinks, President Jay Timmins and Secretary Pierre Osbourn as successor trustee Brown County Water Improvement District No. 1 regarding the district’s pension plan.  Currently the plan is administered by Harbridge & Associates and the investment group is Hand & Associates.  The plan is being moved to the investment group of One America through Bart Johnson with the new administration being the Benefit Shop.
