option2The Brownwood Independent School District school board approved three possible schematic designs for classroom additions to East Elementary Monday night.  Due to increased enrollment this year, the district has seen a need for the new expansion.

Daren Kirbo of Huckabee Architecture provided the board with three different schematic designs for the proposed expansion.  The first design was for an additional four classrooms to be constructed and the second and third designs were for six new classrooms, but with different configurations.

The district looks to award a bid for construction sometime in December.  The board will decide whether to go with a 4 or 6 classroom addition based on cost once the bidding process begins.   The plan is to have the new classrooms open for school by the beginning of the next school year.

See the three possible schematic designs below.

In other BISD business:

*Trustees approved the adoption of “Make Education a Priority” Resolution.  So far, 101 school districts have adopted this resolution to unify and show strength as the new legislative session gets close.

*Trustees approved the 2010-2011 School Health Advisory Committee.

*Trustees approved TASB localized Policy Update 88 as well as District/Campus Improvement Plans

*Trustees approved the District’s and campuses improvement plans.
