Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley released crime statistics from the police department today for the month of September along with year-to-date numbers for 2009 and 2010.

Corley releases Brownwood Police Department crime statistics on a monthly basis as a new program to have a more transparent department to the public.  Corley stated that he also looks at these numbers to see where the department needs to focus.

Overall reported crime in Brownwood was down in September by almost 16 % compared to the previous month.   Year-to-date shows there is a slight decrease in reported crimes with a much larger number of these being cleared.

See below for the September & August stats along with tables of year-to-date 2010 numbers and 2009 stats of the same time period for comparison.  The number reported refers to crimes that were assigned a case number and responded to by police.  The number cleared refers to how many cases were closed either by an arrest or after further investigation.
