BMSComputerLabThe future of education is here now, and you have a chance to experience it during a technology open house at Brownwood Middle School, 1600 Calvert Road, on Thursday, October 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Students will demonstrate activities in the Career Portals Lab, Room 300, which is equipped with modular curriculum developed by Pitsco Education. The lab is a cooperative, interactive learning experience that enables students to learn valuable communication and teamwork skills while exploring a variety of subjects and careers related to area businesses.

The curriculum combines relevant, hands-on activities in a team-based, student-directed environment to deliver core content and career skills in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Since its inception, Pitsco Education has been dedicated to helping students and teachers succeed. With nearly four decades of experience, Pitsco delivers products and solutions that serve more than seven million students every year. Learn more at www.pitsco.com.

Come to Brownwood Middle School to witness firsthand the student success achieved through positive and challenging learning experiences. For more information about the Career Portals Lab and open house, contact Brownwood ISD Community Relations Coordinator Emily Crawford (325-643-5644).

Acording to BMS Principal, Bryan Allen, “It should be a great evening for everyone.”

There will be several activities going on at the middle school that will be of interest to you and your child.  Report cards will be handed out, and the BMS PTO will sell pizza meals in the cafeteria for $5.  Teachers will also be available to visit in the cafeteria.  There will have a book fair in the library, and we will have special technology demonstrations to highlight our Pitsco Lab and our laptops.  These will be in the computer lab in the 300 hall.  Finally, the BMS bands, choirs, and cheerleaders will close out the evening with a special performance in Lehrer Gym.

Schedule of events:

  • 5:00-6:00PM: Pizza meals served in the cafeteria – $5
  • 5:00-6:20PM: Report Cards handed out in the cafeteria; Teachers available in the cafeteria; Book Fair in the library; and Spotlight on technology in the 300 hall
  • 6:30-7:00PM: Bands, Choirs, and Cheerleaders perform in Lehrer Gym
