Patta Jean Moore Wells

Wells001A graveside service for Patta Jean Moore Wells, age 94, of Brownwood, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 17, 2010 in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening.

Mrs. Wells died peacefully on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Patta Jean was born on April 12, 1916 in Greenville to Virginia Rucker and Ben H. Moore.  She graduated from Daniel Baker College and married R. E. Wells of Brownwood in 1938.  She taught school for many years at North Ward, East Ward, Coggin Ward, and finally retired from Brownwood High School. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church.

Patta Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Bob Wells, a daughter-in-law, Patti Wilson Wells, two brothers, and a sister.

Patta Jean is survived by a daughter, Judy Gay Wells Herman and husband Jim of Brownwood, two sons, Jim Wells of Tucson, Arizona and Rick Wells of Santa Fe, New Mexico; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eva Wells Vineyard of Duncanville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Corrine T. Smith Animal Center, 3016 Milam Drive, Brownwood, Texas 76801.
