Funeral services for Georgia Ruth Jones, age 93, of Early will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 12, 2010 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Don Scroggs officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jones passed away Thursday evening in Brownwood.
Ruth was born July 2, 1917 in Rising Star, Texas to George A. and Sarah (Watkins) Roach. She married Alvis M. Jones on January 4, 1936 in Weatherford. He died April 20, 1969. She owned and operated a farm and ranch and also worked for many years at the Holiday Inn, Chisolm’s Restaurant and various other establishments. Ruth had been a resident of Brown County since 1943 and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Brownwood.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Jones and wife Debbie of Rising Star, and Douglas Jones and wife Linda of Dallas; four grandsons, Ronald Wesley Jones and wife Renee of Stephenville, Jeremy Dee Jones and wife Ginger of Stephenville, Randal Melvyn Jones and wife Angela of Wylie, and Brent Andrew Jones and wife Karen of Stephenville, and seven great-grandchildren, Kaydee Louise Jones, Calvin Bain Jones, Ronald Wyatt Jones, Callista Renee Jones, Morgan Rain Jones, Brenen Isaac Jones, and Gavin Luke Jones
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvis Jones; five brothers; and one sister.
