On Saturday, September 11th, all of Brown County is invited to take part in the Brown County Emergency Preparedness Fair. The Fair will begin around 9:00 am and will last until 4:00 pm in and around the Adams Street Community Center.

The Brown County Emergency Preparedness Fair will feature information booths, emergency vehicle displays, and live demonstrations from local emergency response agencies. The Fair is open to anyone and everyone who would like to learn more about the area’s local emergency response capabilities or how residents can better prepare and protect their own families in the event of a disaster or serious emergency

There will be numerous agencies represented at the Emergency Preparedness Fair, including the National Guard, Red Cross, AirEvac, the Brownwood Police and Fire Departments, Brown County Emergency Management, and many others. The Brownwood Fire Department will have a live fire demonstration during the day, and there will also be a 9/11 memorial display set up all day at the Gazebo for anyone wishing to pay their respects.

There will be information booths set up inside the Adams Street Community Center covering a wide range of preparedness topics. These include how to prepare a family emergency kit, preparing pets for emergencies, and information about how to become a member of the Brown County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the county’s volunteer emergency response organization.

The Emergency Preparedness Fair is part of Brown County’s promotion for September as National Preparedness Month, an initiative sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security to encourage citizens to become better informed and prepared for emergencies.
