CorbinYoungFCAFor over 5 years now, the Brownwood area Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Board has been raising the funds and prayerfully preparing the way for the vision of one day calling a full time FCA staff member to serve as an Area Representative to the twenty different schools in Brown, Comanche, Coleman, McCulloch, and Mason counties.

The local FCA Leadership Board has grown to fourteen strong. The influential members of our communities include Kirk and Darlene Wall, Dr. Rick Evans, Kevin Gabaree, Ricky Cavitt, Dr. Carol Boren, Bill and Ann Slaymaker, Stephen Haynes, and Dr. Brad Johnson all of Brownwood, Tracey Carrier and Joe Baucom of Early, Robert Damron of Blanket, and Tony Daniel of Comanche. This past January, the Board began to accept resumes, interview the applicants, and take the next step in bringing a full time FCA employee to the Brownwood area. After an intense hiring process, the Board narrowed down the finalists in April and is pleased to announce their decision in calling Corbin Young to be Brownwood’s first ever FCA Area Representative.

Corbin Young is a 2010 Graduate of Howard Payne University, where he was a four year letterman, senior captain, and All-Conference slot receiver on the Yellowjacket football team. Majoring in Practical Theology, and serving in youth ministry for the past four years at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, God has given Corbin a passion for coaches and student athletes to come to know Christ.

Corbin began his responsibilities with FCA this past July 1, and through the generosity of Dr. Bill Ellis and Howard Payne, has an office on campus in the Mabee University Center. The Brownwood FCA Leadership Board would like to cordially invite members of our community to a come-and-go reception from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Monday, September 13 in the balcony of the Mabee University Center on the Howard Payne campus to welcome Corbin to Brownwood and have a chance to discuss your interest in becoming involved with this vital ministry.
