BFD: Fire & Rescue Reports 8/23

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of August 15th through August 21st, 2010 from Brownwood Fire Department indicate response to 34 medical emergencies, 5 motor vehicle accidents, 1 false alarm, 1 faulty smoke detector, 4 fire calls and 1 hazardous material call.

Calls of interest included:

Monday, August 16

*At 1:00pm   BFD responded to a call regarding the smell of smoke at Bank of America which determined to be electrical problems.

* At 7:32pm   BFD responded to a two vehicle accident at Austin & Cordell.  One person was transported by Guardian EMS.

Tuesday, August 17

*At 8:35pm, BFD responded to a report of an oil well leaking hazardous materials.  Firefighters used Chem boots and Level B splash suits.  They built a temporary burm to stop the flow of hazardous materials.  According to BFD, because of the large area, it took firefighters over 2 hours to control/contain the spill.

Wednesday, August 18

*At 3:52pm, BFD responded to a 1 vehicle accident.  Car struck building.  Patient was transported by Guardian EMS.

Thursday, August 19

*At 4:06pm, BFD responded to a trash can burning.  The fire caused damage to a column of the building.

Friday, August 20

*At 4:01pm, BFD responded to a call in the 1700 block of Vincent.  There was smoke in the house from smoldering insulation in the attic the report states.

Saturday, August 21

*At 2:10pm, BFD responded to a 1 vehicle rollover at Camp Bowie.  Occupants were transported by Guardian EMS.

Citizens are reminded that Brown County is currently under a Burn Ban.
