Larry G. Padgett, age 66, of Bangs died suddenly Tuesday evening at the Lake Brownwood State Park.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Saturday at the Bangs First Baptist Church with Dr. Pepper Dill officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Friday at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

He was born October 14, 1943 in Hepzibah, Georgia. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for a petro chemical company on the Texas Gulf Coast. They formerly lived at LaPorte, Pasadena, and Deer Park. He had lived in Bangs for the past 10 years moving from LaPorte. He and his wife owned and operated the Snak Shak in Bangs for several years and he was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Bangs where he will be remembered as the “Go To Guy” when things needed to be fixed. He spent his life in service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved people and especially his family.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Padgett of Bangs

Daughter – Diana Padgett of Bangs

Son – Wesley Padgett and his wife Elizabeth of Spring, Tx.

3 Granddaughters – Morgan Elaine Padgett of Spring, Tx., Michelle Williamson of Shreveport, La. and Kimberly Williamson of Spring, Tx.

5 Grandsons – Keith Loftin of The Woodlands, Alexander, Christopher, Timothy & Zachary Williamson all of Spring, Tx.

Brother – Allen Padgett of Augusta, Georgia

2 Sisters – Vonnice Barton of South Carolina and Dot Johnson of Georgia

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Martha Kelly and Audrey Connerly.

In celebration of his life, the family requests that those attending the funeral service wear very casual clothing and something red in his remembrance.

Memorials are requested to be made to the First Baptist Church of Bangs Library fund or to the New Day Orphanage in Zambia c/o First Baptist Church in Bangs.
