Brownwood Reunion Announces 1st Annual Cake-Off

posterFirst Annual Brownwood Reunion Celebration Cake-Off was announced by Reunion organizers as a new competition.

“Brownwood is known for great cooking, but this contest takes the cake,” said Gina Powers, Cake-Off Chairman. “The Reunion is looking for teams of 2 willing to take the 1st Annual Reunion Cake-Off Challenge. The challenge is to decorate a themed cake in 4 hours under the watchful eyes of judges and an audience.”

The Reunion Cake-Off will take place on Sat., Sept. 18 during the celebration weekend, inside the Lehnis Railroad Museum at 700 East Adams, Brownwood, TX. There are two categories for cake decorators, amateur and professional, for those entering and prizes will be awarded in both. For those wanting to just watch the cake decorators work their magic, they will be charged a $2.00 entry fee that will also allow them to view the exhibits in the Lehnis Railroad Museum. Entry forms for the Cake-Off are available online at www.brownwoodtx.com and also at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.

Rules:
Teams will be required to provide their own unfrosted, undecorated cakes.
Pre-made decorations will be allowed
Two categories are offered: amateur or professional
Teams will be given a 4×6 table and small work station.
Teams must complete entry form and pay $10.00 entry fee by Sept. 15th @ 5pm
Teams will have 4 hours to decorate their cakes.

Theme of Cakes: Brownwood Reunion Celebration 10th Anniversary

Judging: Decorating will take place from 9-1 on Sat. Sept. 18.
Judging will take place Sat. from 1:30-2:00pm and cakes will be on display until 4:30
Cakes will be judged based on 20% taste, 50% decoration, 30% theme

Awards:
Both Amateur and Professional: Winning Cakes will be presented on Saturday’s Main Stage and served to public. Winning Teams will also receive $150.00 in prize money and will be featured on Jumbo trons during the main concert.
