Nell Thomas Perry

NellPerryNell Marie Waren Thomas Perry passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 16, 2010.

Nell had lived at Oak Ridge Manor for the last four years in Brownwood, where she received loving care. The family sends their special thanks to the employees of Oak Ridge.

Nell was born on October 3, 1917 in Wichita County, Texas to her parents, Joe Lee and Vera Mae Cude Waren. Nell was raised in Brown County and attended school at Clear Creek.

Nell was married to Francis Gilford Thomas. From this union two daughters were born, Nancy Nell Thomas and Lois Jarene Thomas.

Nell worked at Montgomery Ward in Brownwood after Francis G. Thomas passed away to support herself and her two daughters.

Nell married Henry Dee Perry and moved to Houston where she was employed by Joskes of Houston. She attended the University of Houston Continuing Education Course Management Skills and Techniques for New Supervisors. She was a supervisor in the accounts payable department at Joskes until her retirement, at which time she and Henry Dee Perry moved to Brownwood.

Nell was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Martha Circle. Nell also worked at Good Samaritan.

Nell is survived by one daughter, Jarene Price and husband Gary of Brownwood; three grandchildren, Kent Montgomery Price and wife Melissa of Lubbock, Waren Corbeth Price and wife Eren of Frisco, and Rowdy Jenkins Brown of Florida; five great-grandchildren, Thomas Luke Price and Loree Marie Price, both of Lubbock, Jackson Parker Price and Wyatt Griffin Price, both of Frisco, and Michael Brown of Florida.

Nell is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Leatrice Waren of Bangs, Louise Perry Bartche of Douglas, Wyoming, and Martha Perry of Corinth, a brother-in-law, J. Fred Perry of Brownwood, a cousin, Johnnie Waren of Rochelle, two nephews, Bob Waren and wife Pat of San Angelo and Gary Waren and wife of Amarillo

Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Lee and Verna Mae Cude Waren, both husbands, Francis G. Thomas and Henry Dee Perry; one daughter, Nancy Nell Thomas Cook Jenkins; one granddaughter, Jarene Marie Cook Sprago; two brothers, Vernon Waren and Ferrel Waren; two sisters-in-law, Delyia Waren and Fletcher Perry and a nephew, Dwight Waren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church in memory of Nell Marie Perry.

A special thanks goes out to the person or persons who brought a large vase of purple and yellow mixed fresh flowers to the hospital for Nell. There was no name or card attached. A special thanks also goes out to Dr. Stephen Oines, Dr. Tim Moore, the staff and nurses at Brownwood Regional Medical Center for their care of Nell.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. There will be a private family graveside service on Thursday at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Davis-Morris Funeral Home is on charge of arrangements.
