Jerry Cowin

Jerry Dale Cowin, 67, went to be with our Lord August 12, 2010. He was born to Virgil E., Sr. and Albie Cowin in Brownwood, TX on February 28, 1943.

Cowin was a Texas Peace Officer who thoroughly enjoyed a career spanning over 45 years, having served for many city and county entities throughout Texas. He began his career in Brownwood, where he served with two of his brothers. He retired as Deputy Sheriff of Falls County in 2007, but quickly returned to work and was currently serving as Constable of Precinct 1 in Falls County. During his career, he earned many titles, including Senior Crime Scene Analyst, Handwriting and Fingerprint Expert. He was a member of the Baptist church. He had twice served as Worshipful Master of his Masonic Lodge.

Being an old cowboy at heart, he enjoyed watching old westerns, especially John Wayne movies. “Cowin” to most and “Pops” to many, will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Cordero Cowin of Marlin, TX, daughter Brandi and Jerry Moore and granddaughter Rhiannon Moore of Round Rock, TX, son Patrick Dupré of Austin, TX; and children by second marriage, son Doug and Charlotte Tucker of Santa Anna, TX; son Dwayne and Cindy Tucker of Merkel, TX; son David and Annisa Tucker of Santa Anna, TX; daughter Jerilyn Nichole Cowin of Dallas, TX; and children by first marriage daughter Kacy Cowin Garner of Brownwood, TX; son Michael Cowin Garner of Winnsboro, TX; and sister Evelyn Phillips of Coleman, TX; brother Virgil E., Jr. and Shirley Cowin of Brownwood, TX; sister-in-law Edna Cowin of Midland, TX; brother Travis and Casey Cowin of Sweetwater, TX; and 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and hundreds of loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Gale Cowin and his parents Virgil E., Sr. and Albie Cowin. Visitation 6-8 P.M., Sunday, August 15, 2010, Adams Funeral Home, Marlin, TX. Chapel Service 10 A.M., Monday, August 16, 2010, Adams Funeral Home, Marlin, TX. Graveside Service and Burial at 2 P.M. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Brownwood, TX.
