National Guard and the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a small grass fire about a mile south of Brownwood on Highway 45 Wednesday evening near the Camp Bowie area.

National Guard first responded as high winds fanned the flames causing the fire to spread to a few trees in the area.  The Brownwood Fire Department fire units soon arrived and helped get the blaze under control.

The fire was stopped soon after it began and was contained to a small area.  Smoke from the fire was visible from several miles away.

No injuries or damage to structures were reported.  No information to the possible cause of the fire was available.
