ATMMomsTuesday evening, Aggie parents, current students and alumni gathered at the Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center for the Brown County A&M Mother’s Club “Bevo Burn (hamburger supper) and Howdy Party” to welcome the incoming Freshman.

During the Howdy Party, there were four $500 scholarships presented which were funded by the annual Texas A&M Former Students’ Golf Tournament.  Recipients of the scholarship this year included Chloe Geye, Cooper Morelock, Claire Faetche, and Jeffrey Day.

In addition to fun and scholarships, Texas A&M Student Body President Jacob Robinson spoke encouraging the new students to become involved and make the most of their college years.  He told of the lifelong bond Aggies have all around the world.

“Texas A&M offers great academics, but the greatest thing is the secondary education that sets us apart,” stated Robinson.  “We always rally around other Aggies, we celebrate a lot, through the highs & lows…Aggies take care of their own.”

Robinson also spoke of the success of other Aggies and challenged students to take the opportunity to do more than they imagine is possible.

“Do great things, live up to that great expectation and make it (acceptance to Texas A&M) the opportunity of a lifetime,” stated Robinson.  He noted that over 27,000 students applied to A&M for the fall semester; however, only 8,000 were accepted, which makes becoming a student at A&M is honor not to be taken for granted.

Texas A&M has a student body of over 48,000.  Twelve Brown County Students attending A&M this fall are:

  • Brownwood: Claire Faetche, Jeffrey Day, Cooper Morelock, Sheldyn Miller, John Jacobs, & Courtnee Pool
  • Early: Trenton Carothers, Courtney Campbell, Shane Morris, and Rabon Bowen
  • May: Jeremy Phillips
  • Rising Star: Chloe Geye
