The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Lindley Street in May, around 1:00am on Tuesday morning after an argument escalated.

According to BCSO, deputies responded to the scene where the 21-year-old female was found to be shot in the upper chest near the collar bone.  She was transported to Hendricks in Abilene for treatment; however a heavy fog delayed transport to Hendricks.

Initial reports state that two shots were fired, one of which struck the victim, who is now said to be in good condition.

The suspect, 47-year-old Sheryl Janine Watkins was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was held in the Brown County Jail, bond was set at $5000.

Watkins’ bond was posted and she was released Tuesday afternoon according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
