lyricquiltThe “Light the Lyric” Celebration held Tuesday, July 20th not only celebrated the historic moment of lighting the new sign on the Lyric Theatre, but was a way to raise funds to further its restoration.

One such fundraiser was a raffle for a commemorative quilt celebrating the event.  Tracy Perry of Brownwood was the winner of this beautiful quilt which was donated by Susie’s Quiltin Quarters.  The quilt was embroidered with the words “Light the Lyric, July 20, 2010, est. 1914”.  The raffle for the quilt brought in about $300.

The entire “Light the Lyric” event brought an estimated 800 people to Downtown Brownwood.  The event not only helped raise some funds for the Lyric restoration project, but helped create new awareness of the project.
