FBCVBS2010Imagine what it was like to live and work in a dusty, bustling, noisy city along the Nile in ancient Egypt.  You would hear the hubbub about what was happening in Pharaoh’s palace.  You might work with people who followed countless gods – and perhaps hear about someone who follows only one God.  Perhaps you’d wonder about the new guy Pharaoh has put in charge of storing and distributing food.  Some say this former prisoner has the gift of interpreting dreams!

We will immerse children and families of all ages in Bible-times culture, helping kids and adults explore what it might have been like to live in a culture that had never heard of the one true God.  Families will experience new traditions, taste new foods, try new arts and crafts projects, and discover that God never leaves us alone through life’s trials and triumphs.

First Baptist Church Brownwood invites the community to Egypt: Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace, an experience for the entire family from July 19th-23rd.  Each evening families will gather at 6:30pm in the “Egyptian temple” for a celebration time and then move to family groups where all ages will visit Joseph in ancient times, learning about his experiences.  Family groups will spend time in the Egyptian marketplace where they will find activities, crafts, toys, customs, and foods of the Egyptian people.  They will learn about missions in this region and have a great time playing games at the Pyramid Playground. We will return to the “Egyptian temple” to close each evening with song.

This is a Vacation Bible School experience designed by Group Publishing that is far beyond what you may remember from your childhood.  If you are looking for a church home or curious about God’s message to the Egyptians and all of us, we invite you to come and spend awhile on the Nile at FBC Brownwood!  This experience is designed for children from Pre-K through 6th grade and their families. You can pre-register by calling the church office (646-8505) or through our website at www.fbcbrownwood.org.
