Law Enforcement reports and arrests released Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Monday, June 14

*Early Chief of Police, David Mercer reported that on June 14th Sgt. Shawn Dibrell of Early Police Department and Investigator Carlisle Gover with Brown County Sheriff’s Office went to a residence in the 2800 block of Temple Street just outside the City of Brownwood after receiving information about an individual growing marijuana. Dibrell and Gover made contact with 51-year-old Randy Crawford who surrendered the marijuana growing outside his home. Officers collected the marijuana and placed Crawford in the Brown County Jail for Possession of Marijuana and 2 outstanding warrants for Fail to Appear and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

*Brownwood Police Department arrested 36-year-old James Michael Helms after a routine traffic stop for an expired inspection sticker.  Helms stated that his license was suspended and he did not know where his proof of insurance was located in the truck.  Helms was then arrested for Driving While License Invalid and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.  He was also issued a warning citation for expired motor vehicle inspection.

*Brownwood Police responded to a report of possible employee theft at a local business in the 300 block of West Commerce.  According to police reports, the manager believed that one of the team leaders in the company, who is responsible for counting up the money for the deposits and closing the restaurant for the night, may have stolen the night deposit of $315.60 and $100 of petty cash.  The suspect was interviewed by the officer and stated that he had in fact counted the money and put it into the safe.  He did not believe the other two employees present had anything to do with the theft.  The crime is being further investigated and no arrests have been made at the time of the report.

Tuesday, June 15

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 51-year-old Timothy David Bumpass for Driving While Intoxicated, 3rd or more.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-year-old Scott Clark Cody for DWI and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon

*Early Police arrested Alvis Connell on an outstanding warrant for cruelty to animals.
