ConnawayFuneral services for Robert W. Connaway, age 71, of Brownwood, will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Dallas Huston officiating.  Burial will follow in the Jordan Springs Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday evening.

Robert, our loving husband, dad, and “Rabbit” as known to his grandchildren and fond friends, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010.  He was born in San Angelo on January 20, 1939, and lived a fun-filled life with strong work ethic.  His education included Brookesmith and Brownwood Independent School Districts.  After graduating in the class of 1957 form Brownwood High School, Robert attended Texas A&M University where he ran track, a life-long love for him, as shown through his continued support of the annual Bluebonnet Relays.

On August 28, 1959, he married Torrence Corbett.  He was employed with Decker and Dankworth Meat Companies.  In the late seventies he began his own wholesale meat business.  In more recent years, he joined the Msaonic Lodge and became involved with Gordon Wood Hall of Fame.  Of course, Robert was known for enjoying his weekly round of Wednesday golf.

Robert is survived by his wife of fifty years, Torrence C. Connaway of Brownwood, a daughter, Carole Jane McNabb and husband Steve, a granddaughter, Morgan McNabb a grandson, Flynn McNabb, all of Brownwood, a sister Laura Ann Null of Brownsville.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Caren Elizabeth Connaway.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church Brownwood, 208 Austin Ave, Brownwood 76801.

Condolences may be offered to the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
