Mrs. Nereida Ceniceros’ first grade class at Woodland Heights Elementary celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Wednesday.  They talked about artesanias (crafts), mercados (markets) and the meaning of the Cinco de Mayo celebration.

The students worked on several projects to commemorate the holiday.  They created some parrot piñatas and made some guacamole in a mocajete.  They also started the day with an almuerso (breakfast) by making chorizo (egg and bean burritos).  Students also danced and listened to some traditional Mexican music, like mariachi music!
