VOTEIt sounds cliche to say that Brownwood is entering a “new era,” but there is really no other way to put it.  For more than three decades, Bert V. Massey II has been involved in Brownwood’s city government and now that is all going to change with his announced retirement.

After the upcoming municipal elections, Brownwood will have not only a new mayor, but possibly three new city council members.  Considering all of these changes, calling this a new era for Brownwood is really the only way to go.

Now for the important part.  The citizens of Brownwood will have a voice in the direction of this new era by casting their vote in the election.  It will be more important than ever for Brownwood residents to be involved in the voting process.

Below is information on the voting time and days along with information about the candidates running for the city offices.  We hope that this helps voters make an informed decision in the election.  Although we will not publically support any candidate, we strongly support exercising your right to vote.

Early voting runs Monday, April 26th – 30th from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and May 3rd & 4th from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Ballots can be cast at the Adams Street Community Center on each of these days and times.   Election Day is Saturday, May 8th, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The candidates running for city offices include the following.  Several candidates have provided us with biographical information about themselves.  You can click their name for that information.  **Note: Candidates still have time to submit biographical information to us for publication in our regular news and in this guide.  Send to [email protected] for inclusion**
