Early Police Chief David Mercer reported that off duty Officer Steven Means and other officers were working as security at the Brownwood Coliseum for a dance on Saturday night.  Approximately 11:30 pm, Officer Steven Means was checking the parking lot area when he observed a vehicle with the door open.

When he approached a man, later identified as 27-year-old Gabriel Herrera of Comanche, he was sitting in the passenger seat and quickly began trying to hide something. Officer Means detained him and located some marijuana that Herrera was trying to hide. Officer Means then began searching Herrera and located a bag of white crystal substance that was later identified as methamphetamine.

Herrera was taken to the Brown Co Jail and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Controlled substance.
